WhatsApp launches a new app to aid small businesses

WhatsApp has launched a separate app designed for use by small businesses to more easily connect with customers. WhatsApp Business adds key features like dedicated business profiles for details like email address, business description, store addresses, and website; smart messaging tools like greetings, quick replies, and away messages; and metrics for how many messages were sent, delivered, and read.

For those who use a business number and a personal one, both the WhatsApp Business and WhatsApp Messenger apps can be used on the same device and registered with your different numbers. WhatsApp Business is also compatible with WhatsApp Web, the app’s desktop web browser client.

Business accounts will be clearly listed as such. WhatsApp says over time, businesses that have confirmed their account phone number matches their business one will receive a confirmation badge on their profile. That’s similar to WhatsApp adding green verification badges to select business accounts last year in the standard app. WhatsApp says other users can continue to use the standard app as usual and will still have full control over the messages they receive like blocking numbers and reporting spam.

WhatsApp Business is free and available to download now for Android users, though there’s no mention of an iOS release yet. WhatsApp Business is currently available in Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, the UK, and the US, with a global rollout scheduled in the coming weeks.

Kanye West Ends Contract With Jay-Z's Tidal because He's Owed Money

According to TMZ, sources close to Kanye West say the rapper has left Jay-Z music streaming company over money he's owed, which is supposedly upwards of $3 million. Kanye's lawyers allegedly sent documents to Tidal over a month ago, claiming that the company was in breach of contract and that Kanye's obligations therein were terminated. Legal teams on both sides have tried to work things out behind the scenes, but to no avail.

The decision to leave Tidal reportedly predates all the Kanye bashing that goes on in 4:44, Jay's new album that is available only on Tidal until some point this coming week, where it will expand to other streaming services. Kanye claims that his album Life of Pablo resulted in more than a million people signing up for Tidal and that he was due a bonus that was never paid.

Samsung confirms launch of refurbished Galaxy Note 7s

Samsung Electronics said Sunday it would start selling a refurbished version of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphone this week after an embarrassing recall over exploding batteries rocked the tech giant last year.

The recall of millions of Galaxy Note 7 devices cost the world's largest smartphone maker billions of dollars in lost profits and hammered its global reputation.

The refurbished device, made of recalled, unsealed Note 7 handsets and unused components are outfitted with new batteries, Samsung said in a statement.

The limited-edition phone -- the Galaxy Note Fan Edition (FE) -- will hit shelves in South Korea on July 7, Samsung said, adding it would only sell 400,000 units at home.

The firm said it would decide later whether to release the refurbished edition elsewhere, which is priced at 699,000 won ($611) domestically, far lower than the previous version that was nearly $1,000.

About three million Galaxy Note 7 handsets were returned to the firm last year, but campaign groups including Greenpeace have expressed concern that discarding the phones could harm the environment.

"The latest launch of the Galaxy Note FE... has a significant meaning as an environment-friendly project that minimised the waste of resources," Samsung said in a statement.

The recall -- the largest-ever by the South Korean tech giant -- was deeply embarrassing for Samsung, but it has just launched a new flagship device, the Galaxy S8, to positive reviews and strong orders.

In April Samsung posted its biggest quarterly net profit in more than three years, although the company has come under pressure on wider fronts.

Lee Jae-Yong, the Samsung group's vice-chairman and heir to its leadership, is on trial for bribery over his role in a massive corruption scandal that brought down impeached former president Park Geun-Hye.

Lee is accused of bribing Park and her confidante Choi Soon-Sil with millions of dollars to seek regulatory favours.

Chance The Rapper's Birthday Party Will Be "Better Than Any Festival That Ever Existed"

In honor of his impending 24th birthday, Chance The Rapper is throwing a special “Chance The Birthday” party in the form of something his manager promises will be “better than any festival that ever existed.” The night is booked for this Sunday (April 16) at Chicago’s Paris Studio. Although the flier says the event is “featuring special guests,” none of those guests have actually been announced.

All proceeds are being donated to SocialWorks, a non-profit organization co-founded by Lil Chano that aims to “empower the youth through the arts, education and civic engagement,” according to its website.

“Chance The Birthday” follows last week’s Magnificent Coloring World 2 event, which was an invitation-only, top-secret performance only open to the 0.001 percent of Chance’s top fans on SoundCloud who were from the Chicago area. Speculation is swirling the show might end up on Netflix, but until then, fans can look forward to celebrating another revolution around the sun with their favorite rapper this weekend.

Tyga was arrested by Police Outside Hollywood Nightclub, checkout Why

Tyga was seen being hauled away in handcuffs by police after leaving Hollywood's Avenue Nightclub on Tuesday night.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department tells ET that during a traffic stop conducted in Hollywood, law enforcement noticed that the 27-year-old rapper's Mercedes G-Wagon had only paper plates. Officers also decided to conduct a field sobriety test upon stopping Tyga, born Michael Ray Stevenson, but due to the amount of paparazzi in the area, they instead put him in a patrol car and transported him to a local station, where he took a field sobriety test and passed.
Police then released Tyga and he was cited for a minor traffic violation.
While with police, the paparazzi asked Tyga if he thought they were racially profiling him. "'Cause I'm a good looking rapper," he responded.
An eyewitness tells ET that Tyga did not seem mad or upset.

Audi Announces Plans for Q4 and Q8 Production

Audi is making a big push for SUVs, both large and small. Today, the automaker announced production plans for two new models that will arrive near the end of the decade, the Q4 compact utility vehicle and the larger Q8.
In 2019, Audi will begin production of the Q4 in Gyr, Hungary. Here, it will join the Q3, which is destined to transfer from its current facility in Martorell, Spain in 2018.
Adopting the styling of a coupe, the Q4 will slot between the traditional Q3 and Q5 crossovers. Not much else is known about the mid-range model at this point.
Audi announced plans for the Q8 to enter production in Bratislava, Slovakia, in 2018. The plant has produced the Q7 since 2005, and it currently makes the second-gen model including key variants such as the Q7 e-tron plug-in hybrid and a sporty S model.
The Q8 will serve as Audi's flagship SUV and will utilize a fastback design. A concept unveiled at the recent Geneva Motor Show hinted at a radical design for the model, and previewed a mild hybrid powertrain capable of producing 469 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Audi design chief Marc Lichte called the Q8 Sport concept 95-percent production ready.
In a statement, Audi production boss Hubert Waltl said the two new Q models will "increase our competitiveness in an extremely important segment." That's especially true in the U.S., where Audi's best-selling model last year by far was the Q5.
